ANALISIS WACANA GAYA BAHASA SATIR PRESENTER VALENTINUS RESA PADA PROGRAM METRO TV MEET NITE LIVE
In the digital communication era, media not only deliver facts but also shape social perceptions. Metro TV’s “Meet Nite Live” exemplifies the use of satirical language as an effective tool for social and political criticism. This study aims to analyze the satirical language style used by presenter Valentinus Resa and examine its function in constructing social criticism discourse. The research applies Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) combined with Michel Foucault’s theory of power relations. Data were collected from official “Meet Nite Live” broadcasts on Metro TV’s YouTube channel and analyzed through macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The findings reveal that Valentinus Resa’s satire is rich in irony, sarcasm, metaphors, and comparisons. Satirical language not only entertains but also delivers social criticism that fosters emotional connection with the audience and raises public critical awareness. This study concludes that satire in “Meet Nite Live” is not merely entertainment but an effective rhetorical strategy for shaping public opinion and monitoring power. These findings contribute to communication studies, especially in understanding the role of media in fostering critical social awareness.
