KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL GENERASI Z PADA KASUS GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER
Generation Z adolescents with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) have a high need for acceptance, affection, and a sense of security. This condition makes them more vulnerable to unhealthy communication patterns such as grooming and gaslighting in romantic relationships. This phenomenon is important to study because it affects the psychological well-being of adolescents.
The theoretical foundation used in this study is William C. Schutz’s Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation (FIRO) theory, with conceptual foundations including interpersonal communication, grooming, gaslighting, romantic relationships, and the Army, Moa, and Bantu communities as spaces for adolescent interaction.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm, a multiple case study method, and a descriptive nature. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving six adolescents from the Army, Moa, and Bantu communities, as well as one psychologist as the key informant.
The results show that the dominant needs for inclusion and affection among adolescents with GAD make them vulnerable to manipulation, leading to self-doubt and emotional dependence. Strategies to reduce manipulation are carried out through increased self-awareness, open communication with trusted individuals, and social support from the surrounding environment.
The resolution undertaken to support Generation Z adolescents with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) who are vulnerable to manipulation in romantic relationships is by fostering safe and supportive communication, providing education on healthy relationship boundaries, and strengthening the roles of families, schools, and practitioners in psychological guidance.
