FRAMING PEMBERITAAN KASUS KECELAKAAN DIBAWAH PENGARUH ALKOHOL OLEH SUGA BTS DI MEDIA ONLINE DETIK.COM DAN CNNINDONESIA.COM
In 2024, a case involving K-pop idol SUGA of BTS was reported. Coverage
in both mass and social media was no less intense than reports of crime, assault,
and other incidents. The news was not only widely reported in South Korean media
but also widely discussed in international media.
The author uses the theory of social reality construction and the concepts of
communication, mass communication, mass media, news, and news framing, coined
by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann.
The author's research design employed a constructivist paradigm, a
qualitative approach, framing analysis methods, descriptive research,
documentation data collection techniques, and Robert N. Entmann's framing
analysis model. The author's framing analysis concerns the coverage of BTS Suga's
bicycle accident in the August-September 2024 editions by online media outlets
Detik.com and CNNIndonesia.com.
The author's research findings examine the comparison of the framing
strategies used by Detik.com and CNNIndonesia.com in reporting on the alcoholrelated
accident involving BTS SUGA. In this news story, from a media perspective,
elements such as defining the problem, diagnosing the causes, moral judgment, and
treatment recommendations are highlighted.
The author's research concludes that Detik.com frames this case as a
violation of the law and a moral crisis involving a public figure, emphasizing the
legal aspects, military sanctions, and public disappointment, especially among fans.
Meanwhile, CNNIndonesia.com tends to frame this case more personally and
reflectively, focusing on SUGA's regret, public apology, and individual
responsibility
